Telugu Cinema, also known by his stage name Tollywood, is a part of Indian films in the production of the film in Telugu language and focuses on the Indian states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, especially in the field of Film Nagar Hyderabad. Since 1909 Raghupathi Venkaiah Naidu filmmaker has been involved in many aspects of the history of Indian cinema such as the production of short films, traveling to different parts of Asia to promote the work of the film. In 1921 he was the first silent film Pratigna Bhishma. It is cited as the father of Telugu cinema.


In 1933, East India Film Company produced its first Indian film, Savitri, Telugu. About 245 Telugu films were produced in 2006, the highest in India for the year. Film studios in Hyderabad, developed by D. Ramanaidu and Ramoji Rao are involved in the prolific film production and employment. There is a good amount of dispersion between the film industries of India. Many successful Telugu films have been remade in large part by Bengali cinema while fewer were redone by industries in Hindi and Tamil films.The industry has also remade a few movies in Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam. Some Tamil films, Malayalam and Kannada are dubbed in Telugu released.

 
UFO Moviez digital cinema network marketed by the company Screenz On Digital (SDS) has digitized several cinemas in the area.The Institute of Telangana, Film and Television Institute of Andhra Pradesh and Annapurna Ramanaidu Film School Film and Television School International Film and Media, are some of the largest film school in India.The Telangana and Andhra Pradesh States is about 2,800 theaters, the largest number of cinemas in any state in India.

 
Prices Nandi is the most prestigious award for excellence in the production of Telugu Cinema, Theatre and Television. It is awarded annually to Lalitha Kala Thoranam in Hyderabad, India, for film, television and Development Corporation State Theatre Telugu  "Nandi" means "bull", the awards are named after the great granite bull Lepakshi - a cultural and historical symbol of Telugu culture.
